Welcome to Nourished in Nature!
We're very excited to have you as part of our program!
In the summer, we will be meeting every Monday, starting on June 9th at 10:30am at Buffalo Mountain Park.
During our regular season, we meet at Jack Snider Park in Unicoi on Mondays at 10am and Warrior's Path State Park in Kingsport on Wednesdays.
Now that you have been accepted into the program, you're probably wondering the next steps and more details about what you will need for your child. As you know, we meet rain or shine, so your child will need to have appropriate clothing for all kinds of weather. Please have on hand the following clothes so your child will be comfortable in cold and wet conditions:
For Summer Session:
Sunscreen (if desired)
Bug spray (if desired)
Rain coat and pants
Rain boots
An extra towel in the car for after
An extra pair of clothes in the car for after water play
Sunhat
For Winter/Fall:
Winter Jacket (for winter session)
Snow pants with bibs
Rain suit (this can either be a one piece rain suit, or rain pants and a rain jacket)
Rain boots
Snow boots (rated for the cold)
Winter hat
Winter gloves
Scarf or neck warmer
Thermal underwear ("Long johns")
Sun Hat
Sunscreen (if you want to apply this to your child on sunny and hot days)
We also ask that you bring an extra pair of clothing for your child to leave in your car for the times when they get wet or muddy.
When you're packing them up for Nourished in Nature - please pack the following:
A snack for your child
Lunch for you and your child
Water
A sun hat if it's going to be hot
Sunscreen
We meet rain or shine - including pouring rain. We also encourage caregivers to get rain gear for themselves - it makes forest school so much more fun and enjoyable!
We will be following the local Public School cancellations - so if Unicoi County schools or Kingsport schools are closed, we will not meet that day and will schedule a makeup class.
Note: In the summer the only time we will cancel is if the park is closed for an emergency OR if we have a high wind warning. Buffalo Mountain Park is nestled in the forest and high winds are dangerous with falling branches and trees.
